STOBER is preparing for an upturn.

A positive outlook on the future

STOBER is preparing for an upturn.

After a record year in 2023 with significant sales growth, 2024 was extremely challenging for STOBER. However, despite the tense situation on the global markets, the drive specialist’s innovative solutions and proven manpower make it well-prepared for an upturn. STOBER supplies the right products, in particular for a growing automation and robotics sector.

Pforzheim, Germany, 2025-01-13 “In Europe, especially in Germany, the economic situation is making business very difficult,” reports Rainer Wegener, CEO of STOBER in Pforzheim. “We expect a decline of up to 15 percent.” STOBER had set a very high bar with its record year in 2023. Many customers are unsettled by the geopolitical situation and the tense global market. In contrast, business in the US is stable, and there is even growth in the UK.

We are currently at a low point. However, experts expect an upturn in 2025, which will begin slowly in the second half of the year and should continue in 2026. For the automation and robotics sector, they expect average growth of 6.6 percent by 2030. Companies are bringing their production back to Europe or the US from Asia. To work profitably, they need automation. “We will be part of it, since we supply the perfect products for this industry,” says Wegener. “This puts us in a good position for the medium and long term. We just have to find the right balance between stepping on the gas in our current situation and slowing down when necessary. Then we will get through the coming months just fine.” Despite the crisis, STOBER has retained all its employees and is therefore well-prepared for the coming upturn to secure the future of the company.

2024 was a strong year of innovation for the drive specialist. Among other things, the new generation of helical bevel gearboxes and the particularly powerful SB6 drive controller for flexible customer requirements were presented at SPS in November. The focus for 2025 will remain on the continued development of the product portfolio. This will enable STOBER to improve its position further and provide customers with more thorough support. The topic of security is also becoming increasingly important as part of the European Union’s Cyber Resilience Act (CRA), which aims to significantly improve the cyber security of products that are connected to each other or the Internet.
